OpenStreetMap is the map I wish I had in my pocket when I was hitchhiking in the 2000s and early 2010s. This is how I got to know them in 2014. If we were to use different editing philosophies from Wikipedia, I would be an inclusionist. In other words, I would rather complete one tag for a café than edit all its options, and I would rather record a path than spend a long time determining its class and markings. I believe that a traveler can and must evaluate the map. Generally, the most impactful for me were those forgotten tags that no one had verified for maybe 10 years, yet they were still there. Today, the most significant for me are copy services, haberdasheries, solitary hunting stands, quality shelters, or wayside shrines that serve as excellent landmarks and are also the objects and services that commercial entities rarely map because they are unlikely to pay for advertising. For this reason, I am most proud of the route through the Prenj mountain range in Bosnia that I mapped. In the area, one can only use old Yugoslav military maps or US military maps from the 1990s. Neither reflects the mine danger present in the area.

Openstreetmaps je pro mapa kterou bych chtěl mít ve své kapse když jsem stopoval v nultých letech a na počátku desátých. Takto jsem se s nimi i v roce 2014 seznámil. Pokud bychom si vzali na pomoc ruzé editační filozofie wikipedie, tak jsem inkluzionista. Jinými slovy: raději dodělám jednu značku pro kavárnu než abych zeditoval všechny její možnosti, raději zaznamenám cestu, než abych dlouho řešil její třídu a značení. Věřím na to že cestovatel může a musí mapu vyhodnocovat. Obecně pro mě měly největší dopad ty zapomenuté značky, které nikdo neověřil třeba 10 let a přesto tam byly. Dnes pro mě mají největší význam kopírovací služby, galanterie, osamělé posedy, kvalitní přístřešky nebo boží muky které slouží jako výtečný orientační body a zaroveň jsou to ty objekty a služby které komerční subjekty málo kdy mapují, protože si těžko kdy u nich zaplatí reklamu. Z tohotu důvodu jsem nejvíce hrdý na trasu skrz bosenské pohoří Prenj kterou jsem zmapoval. V oblasti lze užít pouze staré jugoslavské vojenské mapy, nebo vojenské mapy USA z 90. let. Ani jedna nereflektuje minové nebezpečí které je v oblasti přítomno.
